CHICO, Calif., Feb. 15, 2001 -- OPTX International rolls out new ScreenWatch™ version 3.0
that enables professional multimedia producers to record and stream Windows applications in
65,000 colors. The first true-to-source screen capture and streaming solution, ScreenWatch's
new capabilities make it ideal for incorporating demanding computer graphics, such as
full-motion video or Flash animation into web-based tutorials. When in low color mode,
ScreenWatch 3.0 records computer screen and mouse activity and streams live or archived
content at or below an economical 28.8 Kpbs bandwidth, supporting learners accessing content
over dial-up or low-speed links.
Brian Meyerpeter, president and CEO of OPTX observes, "Much of technology-based training
today is about technology itself. Until now, incorporating quality recordings of applications
has been virtually impossible. ScreenWatch provides trainers a high-quality screen recording
that is easily integrated with other multimedia and streamed over industry-standard
RealNetworks™ G2 and Microsoft Windows Media servers." Meyerpeter adds, "I'm elated
to see the different ways that our customers have taken advantage of ScreenWatch. One of
our 3.0 beta users is successfully archiving live webcast presentations for on-demand
playback by their customers. We think that Version 3.0 will spur even more creativity."
ScreenWatch 3.0 provides multiple concurrent streams in RealNetworks RealPlayer, making
it easy to webcast screen capture and PowerPoint presentations simultaneously.
ScreenWatch software connects local and remote RealServers, supports unicast and multicast
live streaming, and combines audio or video using SMIL. The new version 3.0 includes an
optional utility that converts ScreenWatch files into Windows Media Version 7 Screen Code
Files. This creates stand-alone playback with Windows Media Player. It also provides
streamable files at 30 fps from Windows Media Streaming Servers. ScreenWatch records
computer screen activity using Windows 2000. With an enhanced optimizer for RealNetworks
deployment, ScreenWatch further reduces packet loss. ScreenWatch 3.0 supports RealServer
on Linux, Solaris™, and HP-UX, as well as Windows 2000 and Windows NT systems.
OPTX serves organizations with common requirements for high-quality, professional screen
recording and playback for training, education, and promotion. Harvard University,
MicroStrategy, Cadence, AtClassNow, RealNetworks, and CAD-TV have already adopted
ScreenWatch Version 3. ScreenWatch is distributed worldwide. For information, visit
