ScreenWatch Today
Since the original ScreenWatch White Paper was published in May 1999, the
OPTX International development team has been extending the ScreenWatch capabilities
to meet customer requirements. OPTX International's ScreenWatch™ Producer
5.6 software makes recording, streaming, archiving, and publishing presentations,
workplace communications, and standup classroom instruction better than ever
before. User friendly ScreenWatch delivers professional publishing with a
host of new features ranging from auto publishing for multiple bandwidths
to powerful advanced editing capabilities. The significant new functions are:
- OPTX Screen Capture Codec Version 9 plug-in
OPTX Screen Capture Codec Version 9 plug-in automatically publishes a single
recording for streaming to multiple bandwidths, including 56k dial up, DSL,
and broadband. This software offers lower bandwidths for live Webcasting
and advanced-user editing for client-side rendered transitions between screen
clips.
- Customized Presentations and SCORM-Compliant Publishing ScreenWatch
publishes directly to Learning Management Systems. And with eight publishing
templates, including four templates that are SCORM-compliant, ScreenWatch
customizes the look and feel of each published presentation.
- Easy-To-Use Recording and Publishing
The Click and Stream Wizard™ takes presenters step-by-step through the simple
recording process. It blends screen capture, audio, video, and automatically
launches PowerPoint, Virtual Ink's mimeo® whiteboard, and other applications;
simply recording and publishing workplace and classroom presentations.
- Randomly Accessed Presentation Contents.
The Slide Navigator™, utilizing the ScreenWatch Producer dynamically created
table of contents, allows the viewer to randomly access presentation contents.
- Presentation Management
The ScreenWatch Presentation Manager tracks lectures published to local
desktops, streaming servers, and CD-ROMs, and prints reports indicating
lecture locations. Users view and print reports indicating the status of
published and unpublished projects and their file locations.
- World-class Milori Training Tools
ScreenWatch works with the world-class Milori Training Tools that help create
dynamic presentations with such real-time functions as screen markup, highlighting
mouse clicks, capturing still screen shots, application launching, and magnifying
key points presented on a computer display.
- Multiple Serving Environments for Deployment
ScreenWatch Producer is the only screen capture software supporting RealServer,
Linux®, Solaris™, HP-UX, and Windows 2000/NT systems. ScreenWatch supports
Helix™ Producer and Firewire. ScreenWatch records using Windows 2000 and
XP. ScreenWatch Producer includes additional audio support for Windows Media.
- Localized Language Support
ScreenWatch Producer includes localized Chinese and Japanese language support.
- Simplified Live Webcasting using RealServer
ScreenWatch makes live webcasting your screens and PowerPoint presentations
as easy as using the RealNetworks encoder. A familiar interface allows you
to connect to both local and remote RealServers, combining audio, or video
using the SMIL language. ScreenWatch supports both Unicast and Multicast
live streaming and is an optional component to the ScreenWatch recording
system.
- High Bandwidth mode for recording Flash, Video and Highly Animated
Productions
ScreenWatch has a special recording mode that minimizes network and CPU
load so that you can capture full motion video, flash animations and other
animated productions in their native state. This mode delays compression
and network transfer and writes the capture data directly to the disk. This
allows ScreenWatch to capture high amounts of data from the screen insuring
the highest possible screen capture quality available. This option is for
presentations where streaming bandwidth is not a concern.
- Windows Media Support
ScreenWatch allows you to convert your ScreenWatch files into Windows Media
Version 7 Screen Code files. This function combines an audio WAV file with
a ScreenWatch (sc) file and creates a single WMV (Windows Media Video) file.
This allows both stand alone playback under Windows Media Player, as well
as streaming the file from a Windows Media Streaming Server.
- Windows 2000 and XP Support
The ScreenWatch Recording system allows you to record a Windows 2000 or
XP Desktop at full 16 bit color depths. It also supports recording in 16-color
mode.
- Multiple ScreenWatch Stream Playback Support
ScreenWatch will allow you to use multiple concurrent ScreenWatch streams
in the RealNetworks RealPlayer. This is useful for combining PowerPoint
with Screen Capture in the same presentation playing at the same time.
